Why there is a demand for change in Jharkhand? BJP to expose Hemant govt with ‘Parivartan Yatra’

Ahead of the upcoming elections in Jharkhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a ‘Parivartan Yatra’ (Change Rally) against the Hemant Soren government. Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the journey from Bhognadih in Sahibganj on September 20. The rally will run from September 20 to October 3.

The BJP is demanding that the people of Jharkhand be freed from what it describes as a corrupt and anti-people coalition government led by the JMM-Congress. With this initiative, the BJP aims to highlight the shortcomings of the Hemant Soren government, with the slogan: “Neither will we tolerate nor remain silent, we will bring change.”

What is BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’?

Amit Shah will kick off the ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in Sahibganj, where the BJP will hold six rallies in different divisions of Jharkhand. The aim is to expose the shortcomings of the JMM-led coalition government and uproot it in the upcoming elections. The Yatra will cover 5,400 kilometres and cover all 81 constituencies in 24 districts.

According to the BJP, the JMM-Congress government has caused immense suffering to the people of Jharkhand by allowing corruption and mafia to exploit state resources. The BJP asserted, “A wave of change is resonating in the hearts of the people. The party will reach out to every block and family and ensure that the only solution to save their resources and dignity is to vote for the BJP.”

Key issues being addressed by the BJP

  1. Liberation from the family rule: The BJP accuses the Soren family of holding on to power since the formation of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in 1973 and promoting nepotism. This includes allegations against Hemant Soren for sidelining senior party members.
  2. Liberation from corruption: The BJP has alleged that the Hemant Soren government is plagued by corruption and has cited several scams since he took office in 2019. Notable incidents include the seizure of large sums of money from employees of government officials.
  3. Punishment for criminals:The BJP promises to bring criminals and corrupt officials to justice and criticizes the current government for its negligence.
  4. Upliftment of tribal communities:The BJP alleges that despite winning votes among tribals, the Soren government has neglected tribal development and thereby jeopardized the rights of indigenous communities.
  5. Development of industries and infrastructure: The BJP criticizes the government for not making significant progress in industrial and infrastructure development despite providing significant funding.
  6. Employment and economic growth: Unemployment is a critical issue. Hemant Soren’s promise of creating 500,000 jobs has not materialized, as recent tragedies during recruitment tests show.
  7. Preserving the Identity of Jharkhand: The BJP believes that the state’s cultural identity is under threat and is calling for a change of guard to protect it.

Strengthening the BJP presence

The ‘Parivartan Yatra’ aims to strengthen the BJP’s position in Jharkhand by directly engaging with the electorate. By addressing local issues and proposing viable solutions, the party aims to reshape the political landscape of Jharkhand and promote a more inclusive model of governance.
