Trump Suspect's Son Arrested on Child Porn Charges

The son of Ryan Routh, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, is now in custody.

The young Routh faces federal charges related to child pornography.

During a search of Oran Routh’s home over the weekend, investigators said “hundreds” of files containing child pornography were found, ABC News reports. The search was “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child exploitation,” which the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Carolina said refers to Ryan Routh.

“The two charges he faces are receiving child pornography and possessing child pornography,” the outlet reported.

Prosecutors wrote in the criminal complaint: “An examination of the SD card in Device-1 revealed that it contained hundreds of child pornography files. These files contained videos from a known child pornography series that was produced outside of the State of North Carolina.”

According to the Associated Press, investigators who seized multiple electronic devices found videos sent to Oran Routh in July, as well as chats from a messaging application often used by people who share child abuse material, the FBI agent said.

Oran Routh is expected to appear in court for the first time on Tuesday.

His father has been charged with “possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number for the incident that occurred at Trump International Golf Club on Sept. 15. Prosecutors said Monday they plan to ask a grand jury to consider an indictment that Ryan Routh attempted to kill Trump,” as ABC News reports.
