Surrey man faces multiple child abuse charges

A man is facing charges after being arrested for child exploitation offences, according to the Surrey RCMP.

In a case update Tuesday, police officials said they arrested a 41-year-old Surrey man in June of this year after he allegedly violated his probation and driving ban.

He has been in custody since his arrest, but police explain that he was charged with additional child abuse offences on 12 September.

The suspect is now also being prosecuted for sexual harassment, luring a child and possession of child pornography.

“The investigation into this incident is ongoing,” said Corp. Sarbjit K. Sangha. “The Surrey RCMP encourages citizens to be a voice for child victims of sexual exploitation by reporting suspected violations to police or by reporting child sexual exploitation online: www.cybertip.ca.”

Police said the suspect will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
