The female actor who has accused the Malayalam film actor Siddique by rape welcomed the Tuesday Kerala Supreme Court decides to be provisional bail plea, in which she said she was happy with the verdict.

“I am very happy with the verdict. I see it as a positive ray of hope,” she said.

However, she expressed her dissatisfaction with the way the investigation was conducted by the Special investigation team (SIT) in the case, because it had failed to ensure the confidentiality of information on the matter.

She alleged that the SIT had not shown the required sensitivity in the matter as minor details of her case had been leaked to the media.

“So I am unhappy with the SIT in that regard. I have filed a complaint with the DGP to highlight this aspect,” she told reporters after the Kerala High Court rejected the actor’s anticipatory bail plea.

The woman alleged that the accused actor was given time by the SIT to destroy the electronic evidence in his possession.

He also had time to influence or threaten witnesses in the case, she said.

Request for provisional bail denied

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of ​​Malayalam film actor Siddique in a rape case against him. The court said that given the gravity of the allegations he was facing, his questioning in custody was inevitable for fair trial. research of the crime.

Judge CS Dias said that since Siddique’s defence was “a total denial of the incident”, his potency test had yet to be conducted and there was a “reasonable apprehension” that he might intimidate witnesses and falsify evidence, “it was not an appropriate case to exercise the court’s discretionary powers” to grant him the relief.

Siddique, who was arrested for offences under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation), alleged in his petition that the accusing actress had subjected him to a “sustained campaign of harassment and false allegations” since 2019.

He had resigned as General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) following the allegations levelled against him by the female actor.

Several FIRs have been registered against many well-known Malayalam film personalities following allegations of sexual harassment against various directors and actors following revelations in the report of the Justice Committee K Hema.

The commission was set up by the Kerala government following the 2017 sexual assault case of an actress and the report that exposed cases of harassment and exploitation of women in the Malayalam cinema industry.

After allegations of sexual harassment and exploitation were made against several actors and directors, the state government on August 25 announced the formation of a seven-member special investigation team to probe the allegations.
