The son of Ryan Wesley Routh, the alleged assassin of former President Donald Trump, was arrested Tuesday morning on federal charges of possession of child pornography.

Federal investigators “seized multiple electronic devices” during a search of the Guilford County, North Carolina, home of 35-year-old Oran Alexander Routh on Saturday and discovered hundreds of files containing child pornography, the indictment said. The search was conducted “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child exploitation,” the indictment said, referring to the investigation into his father, Ryan Routh, who is accused of trying to kill Trump last week while he was golfing at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

According to investigators, the child pornography was found on two Samsung Galaxy Note devices in Routh’s possession.

“An examination of the SD card in Device-1 revealed that it contained hundreds of child pornography files,” prosecutors wrote in the criminal complaint. “These files contained videos from a known child pornography series that were produced outside of the State of North Carolina.”

The complaint included a chat in a messaging app often used to distribute child pornography, in which Oran Routh allegedly responded to someone offering the content for sale.

The sick content included videos of adults performing various sexual acts with six-year-old children.

Routh is charged with receiving child pornography and possessing child pornography.

His father, Ryan Routh, 58, has been charged with “possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number” following the Sept. 15 incident at Trump International Golf Club. Prosecutors said Monday they will ask a grand jury to consider charges that Ryan Routh tried to kill Trump.

When the Daily Mail interviewed Oran Routh after his father was arrested on July 15, he told the British newspaper that his father was not a violent person and that he didn’t even think he owned a gun.

The accused paedophile told the Daily Mail that his father hates Trump like “any reasonable person does” and “I don’t like Trump either.”

“He’s my dad and he’s only had a couple of traffic tickets, as far as I know,” he said. “That’s crazy. I know my dad and I love him, but that’s nothing compared to him.”

However, Ryan Routh has an extensive criminal history, including an arrest in Greensboro, North Carolina, after a three-hour standoff with police in which he barricaded himself in a business with a fully automatic machine gun.

Oran Routh is scheduled to make his initial appearance in federal court in North Carolina later on Tuesday.
