KUALA LUMPUR: Police have discovered a social media post asking for money for the welfare of children affected by actions against Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH).

Police Inspector Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the post, uploaded by a Facebook user named Dzulkifli Salleh, was shared on the Facebook page “Meru and Bukit Kapar Komuniti”.

“We believe this is an attempt by irresponsible parties to exploit the situation,” he said today.

Razarudin urged the public to remain vigilant online and not fall prey to such practices.

GISBH has been investigated by police after raids on 9/11 on 20 nursing homes allegedly run by the company. The operations led to the rescue of 402 children, many of whom were found to have been physically and emotionally abused.

Further investigation revealed that 13 of the children had been victims of sexual abuse, including sodomy.

GISBH has since denied all allegations of child exploitation and abuse.
