Police arrest 2 suspects who supplied food, weapons to criminals in Anambra

SP Toochukwu Ikengathe police spokesperson announced this in a statement in Awka on Wednesday.

Ikenga said one of the suspects was intercepted by a joint security force led by the police during a routine patrol in the Pillar-Pole area of ​​Aguata.

The police spokesperson said the suspect was carrying three bags of ‘garri’ and a large quantity of gunpowder when he was arrested.

“Apart from the gunpowder hidden in ‘garri’ bags, a locally made pistol and live ammunition were also recovered from the suspect.

“Preliminary information indicates that the suspect was on his way to a criminal camp to deliver the items when he was arrested,” he said.

He further said that personnel of the Special Anti-Cultural Unit arrested a suspect when they stormed a criminal hideout in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.

He said the unit, acting on reliable information, seized a locally manufactured pistol with two live rounds of ammunition from the suspect.

Ikenga said the suspects are currently in police custody and will be appearing in court after investigation.

He said that CP Nnaghe Itamthe state police chief, did not tolerate any crime and wanted to make the state unpleasant for criminals.
