Harrisburg man convicted of transporting minor across state lines for sex

(WHTM) – A Harrisburg man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for transporting a minor for the purpose of sexual acts.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District, John Oathout, 54, admitted picking up a 5-year-old child from their Delaware home and taking her to a hotel in Kingston, New York, where the child had sexual contact in November 2021.

Oathout was also given a 20-year conditional release and was required to register as a sex offender.

District Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Special Agent in Charge Craig L. Tremaroli, Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced the sentencing and the FBI’s Albany Division Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force investigated the case.
