Hasina charged in another murder case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday received a complaint against 112 people, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, over the death of a teenager named Ontor in the city’s Jatrabari district during the students’ anti-discrimination movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shaheen Reza asked the Jatrabari police station to register the complaint as a case after investigating whether a general diary (GD) in this regard was filed with the police station earlier. Ontor’s maternal aunt Khuku Moni filed the complaint with the court today, BSS reported.

Other prominent suspects in the case include: former road transport and bridges minister and Awami League (AL) secretary general Obaidul Quader, former interior minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former law minister Anisul Huq, former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman, former Dhaka deputy commissioner Anisur Rahman, former head of the Criminal Investigation Department (DB) Harun-Ur-Rashid and former deputy commissioner of police Biplab Kumar Saker.

The court documents alleged that Ontor was killed when he fired in response to the suspect’s instructions on August 5 while taking part in the mass riot outside the Jatrabari police station.
