GISBH: 10 years in prison for religious teacher who abused three boys

SOUND — A religious teacher was today sentenced by a court to a total of 10 years in prison for four counts of assaulting three boys by beating them and pressing his knees on the chest of one of the victims at two schools linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH).

Judge Noridah Adam pronounced the sentence against Muhammad Barur Rahim Hisam (image), 23, after the man pleaded guilty to all four charges.

He was sentenced to two years in prison for each of the first and second charges, and three years in prison for each of the third and fourth charges. These sentences were to be served consecutively, making a total of ten years, starting from the date of his arrest, which was on September 11 last year.

The court also ordered that the suspect must post a good behaviour bond for five years with a surety of RM10,000. If he fails to post the bond, he will be jailed for six months. BERNAMA
