Child rapist arrested before fleeing country with victim: police

A 31-year-old Maricopa man is accused of luring and having sex with a minor.

Jacob Moreno was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation, sexual conduct and luring of a minor on West Nina Street in Rancho Mirage, Maricopa Police detectives said.

A probable cause affidavit states that police were dispatched to a report of a sexual assault on Sept. 19. Officers said a man told them his daughter had been in contact with Moreno and had “inappropriate conversations with him.”

The reporter had officers search the girl’s phone and found nude photos of Moreno and her together.

A video was also found showing Moreno and the minor having sex, police said.

Agents said Moreno was the minor’s supervisor at work. Text messages said Moreno was planning to leave the country “because of things that were going on.”

Moreno asked the child to delete the photos and video and then asked her to run away with him, police said.

The father told officers he found the phone after hearing his daughter talking to Moreno earlier that day.

In several text messages that officers viewed, Moreno was seen telling the minor that he wanted her to perform sexual acts on him.

Moreno faces a prison sentence of 18 to 20 years.
