Orillia aquatic regulator is facing new charges in a sexual exploitation case

Provincial police say a second complainant has made new allegations against a former Orillia aquatic supervisor in a child luring and sexual exploitation case.

Police arrested 43-year-old Manuel Marroquinn-Ramirez after initial allegations of sexual assault and seduction in 2021 involving a young girl.

According to police, the Orillia man is accused of offering alcohol in exchange for explicit images of the girl while working as an aquatic supervisor at an Orillia recreation center.

Officers executed a search warrant at his home earlier this week with the assistance of the Digital Forensic Unit.

The police would not say what was seized during the search.

The suspect is charged with luring a person under the age of 18, communicating to obtain sexual services, sexual exploitation, sexual assault, possession of child pornography, selling or distributing to a person under the age of 19 and knowingly providing of liquor to a person under the age of 19.

On Wednesday, following the new allegations, he was also charged with forcible confinement.

Police say he held his position at the recreation center until this month.
