After banning GISBH, Perlis says no new recruitment drive has been witnessed in the state

KANGAR, September 27 – Perlis Islamic law enforcement officials have not noticed any new moves to spread beliefs or recruit members of the Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings (GISBH) which has been declared deviant and banned in the state.

Islamic Affairs Executive Councilor Muhammad Azmir Azizan said only two GISBH buildings have currently been identified in Kuala Perlis, adding that these are focused on business activities. Utusan Malaysia reported.

“No one has been detained in Perlis so far and no parties have been recruited; it is primarily an operational business entity in Kuala Perlis,” he said yesterday.

He said the state government will continue to consult the State Mufti Department and the Perlis Islamic Religious Affairs Department on future measures to monitor the activities of GISBH.

Perlis was the first state to issue a fatwa on September 20 against GISBH as deviant and declared its beliefs and activities un-Islamic.

Azmir also said that the state government is still waiting for the results of the ongoing investigation by the authorities regarding GISBH.

Police led a multi-agency federal raid on GISBH and its associates with 20 nursing homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan starting on September 11 on suspicions of child exploitation and religious exploitation that have since spread nationwide, including Sabah and Sarawak.

The operation, codenamed Op Global, has so far uncovered cases of sexual and physical abuse and neglect, leading to the arrest of more than 300 people, including GISBH top management, and the rescue of 572 victims.

“If the allegations are true, this should not happen.

“We in Perlis will adhere to the state constitution, which promotes the teachings of Sunni Islam, so that everyone can live harmoniously by practicing the true Islamic teachings,” Azmir said.
