Outrage in Selangor: Mosques condemn GISB for alleged child exploitation

KUALA LUMPUR – The issue involving the Global Ikhwan Services & Holdings (GISB) group, especially the exploitation and sexual abuse of children, was discussed today in Friday sermons in Selangor, with growing concern over the fate of the children involved.

According to the sermon, the abuse and neglect alleged to occur at GISB are deeply disturbing, especially because children have rights that must be respected and protected.

“They have the right to live in a safe and peaceful environment, away from vile crimes such as molestation, sodomy, abuse, forced marriage and divorce, child labor, separation from their parents, or even being forced to claim orphan status.

“It is unacceptable that GISB fails to properly care for these children and instead oppresses them by denying them access to regular education, thereby isolating them from the outside world,” read the sermon text from the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais). , entitled ‘Why does GISB do this to children?’

The sermon also highlighted the serious violations of Islamic religious practices suspected to have occurred in several GISB buildings.

“All these criminal acts and faith-related violations tarnish the good name and sanctity of Islam. Such actions can lead to loss of faith (akidah) and invalidate a Muslim’s shahadah,” the report continued.

Furthermore, the script pointed out that the group is suspected of exploiting children’s physical labor for their own interests.

“Ultimately, many of these children may become heirs and followers of GISB’s misguided religious practices and worldly ambitions.

“In other words, the children are being made slaves for the leaders of the group,” the sermon warned.

The text also expressed dismay that many of the charity houses under GISB, which are currently under investigation, have been operating for some time in several states, including Selangor.

Furthermore, these charity homes are not legally registered, raising questions about how such activities could continue.

The issue has drawn the attention of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who has decreed that all unregistered charity houses and Islamic schools under GISB and its subsidiaries suspected of criminal activities, including Syariat violations, must be immediately Closed.

As a result, parents and guardians, including charities, are urged to take responsibility for shaping a better future for their children, the sermon said.

“They are also responsible for ensuring that the children live in a safe and nurturing environment at all times,” the report said. – September 27, 2024.
