8Ball & MJG honored with their own intersection in Memphis

Memphis rap legends 8Ball & MJG receive flowers on a large scale.

The city officially calls the corner van Park Avenue and Airways Boulevard– right in the heart of the Orange hill neighborhood – after the iconic duo.

It will become 8Ball Boulevard and MJG Avenue, forever cementing their place in Memphis history.

If you know anything about 8Ball & MJG, you know that they have always represented Orange Mound, shouting out the neighborhood in their music and showing love for their roots. Now the city is giving that love back.

In response to the news, 8Ball responded Instagram to express his gratitude: “Thank you Memphis. Thank you Oranjeberg. The love is appreciated! I never got a lot of accolades, so this touched several people, you hear me. Thank you @mayorpaulyoung @duprano and everyone who made this possible.”

For those who may not know these Memphis legends, be sure to check out their hits. By “Keep flying” provided Three 6 mafia to classics like “You don’t want any drama.” ‘Money on the Floor’ and ‘Comin’ Out Hard’, 8Ball & MJG have been dropping bangers for decades.

Their sound is a huge part of Memphis hip-hop culture, and this new name is well-deserved recognition.
