NH man pleads guilty to child sexual abuse, 5: Feds

MANCHESTER, NH/SIMSBURY, CT – A Manchester, NH, man pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in New Haven to sexually assaulting a girl.

His plea and charges came after an investigation by the Simsbury Police Department.

Vanessa Roberts Avery, the U.S. Attorney for Connecticut, announced Friday that David Eddy, 59, of Manchester, N.H., has waived his right to indict and has been found guilty in U.S. District Court in New Haven of child exploitation crimes involving arising from his sexual abuse of a young girl.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Eddy sexually assaulted an underage girl, approximately five years old, in September 2022 and used his cell phone to take photos of his sexual abuse of the victim.

Avery said analysis of Eddy’s phone revealed more than 150 images and videos of child sexual abuse of the minor victim and other child sexual abuse victims.

She said Eddy pleaded guilty on September 25 to one count of production of child pornography, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 to 30 years in prison, and one count of possession of child pornography, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

No sentencing date has been scheduled.

Eddy has been in custody since October 2022, when he was arrested on related state charges.

This case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Simsbury Police Department, with assistance from the Manchester (NH) Police Department.
