India slams Pakistan after Sharif raises Kashmir Bogey at UN: ‘run by military, with a global reputation for terrorism’

In a sharp response to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s reference to Kashmir during his speech UN Speech General Meeting, India said Pakistan’s ‘fingerprints’ are of terrorist incidents around the world and the country must realize that cross-border terrorism against India ‘will inevitably have consequences’. India on Friday exercised its right of reply in the UN General Assembly in response to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raising the Jammu and Kashmir issue in his speech during the General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly .

Highlighting the terror attacks, Mangalanandan said, “As the world knows, Pakistan has long used cross-border terrorism as a weapon against its neighbors. It has attacked our parliament, our financial capital, Mumbai, market places and pilgrimage routes. The list is long. If such a country talks about violence anywhere, that is hypocrisy at its worst.”

Accusing Pakistan of disrupting the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian diplomat said: “It is even more extraordinary for a country with a history of rigged elections to also talk about political choices, in a democracy. The real truth is that Pakistan covets our territory and has in fact continuously used terrorism to disrupt the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, an inalienable and integral part of India.”

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday accused India of “massively expanding its military capabilities” and making threats to cross the LoC to take over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as he again raised the Kashmir issue in his speech for the United Nations General Assembly.

Sharif demanded that New Delhi reverse the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and also accused India of trying to subjugate its Muslim population and erase its Islamic heritage.

He called on New Delhi to enter into dialogue with Islamabad for a peaceful resolution of the dispute. “Let me say in unequivocal terms that Pakistan will respond decisively to any Indian aggression.
