Anna University receives hoax nomb threat – News Today

Anna University in Guindy has been the target of another bomb threat, the twelfth incident of its kind in recent months. The latest threat was relayed to the registration office via email, prompting an immediate response from authorities.

After receiving the threat, a bomb disposal and detection team was dispatched to conduct thorough checks of the campus. After extensive investigation, officials confirmed the threat was a hoax and there was no danger to students or staff.

Kotturpuram police have since registered a case and are working with the cybercrime wing to trace the source of the threat. Initial investigations indicate that the sender likely used a virtual private network (VPN) to mask their identity, causing problems in tracing the origin of the email.

Chennai Police Commissioner Arun has urged the public not to take such threats seriously, stressing that these hoaxes are often linked to criminal gangs operating from abroad. He assured citizens that efforts to arrest those responsible are being intensified.

This incident reflects a disturbing trend as similar bomb threats have been reported at several locations in India, including railway stations, educational institutions and airports. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and cooperation from the public to combat such criminal activities.
