Toronto teacher faces multiple charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a student

A York Catholic District School Board teacher is facing multiple charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a student.

York police began an investigation in June when the student reported being sexually assaulted by a teacher.

Police are not releasing the name or location of the school so the victim’s identity can be protected.

Investigators say the suspect has been a teacher for 22 years, including five with the YCDSB.

Tony Paniccia, 47, of Toronto, is charged with sexual assault (three counts), sexual exploitation (three counts) and luring a child.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Police Special Victims Unit at 1-866-876-5423, extension 7075.

You can also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
