Islamabad witnesses spike in theft incidents – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The capital witnessed a 38 percent spike in theft incidents in the past week, with 72 incidents of various types of theft, including snatching at gunpoint and robberies, compared to the previous week when the metropolis recorded 55 cases of robberies.

According to data collected by Business recorderMore than 76 incidents of various types of theft have been reported at the city’s police stations, with citizens deprived of valuables worth millions of rupees in the past week.

During the same period, the city witnessed a two percent increase in carjacking incidents as more than 81 cases of carjacking were reported to the city police, compared to 79 cases recorded at various police stations in the previous week. During the same period, three people were murdered in different parts of the city.

During the past week, criminal gangs were most active within the boundaries of Industrial Area, Khanna, Tarnol, Aabpara, Karachi Company and Ramna Police Station.

During the reporting period, carjackers stole 14 motorcycles from the police station boundary in the industrial area; eight motorcycles and one car were stolen from the jurisdiction of Kohsar police station; eight bicycles and one car from Kohsar police station limits; seven bikes and one car from Aabpara police station and another seven bikes from Tarnol police station jurisdiction.

In addition, six cases of theft, four cases of street crime and fourteen cases of carjacking were reported at the Industrial Area Police Station, three carjacking incidents, four cases of street crime and five cases of theft were registered at the Khanna Police Station and four cases of theft . theft, four cases of street crime and seven cases of carjacking were reported at Tarnol Town Police Station.
