Victoria (Tori) Verber Salazar, one of the introductory speakers at Kamala Harris’ Arizona border event on Friday evening, is a former California prosecutor who was ousted by voters after a period of failure. In 2022, Verber Salazar was reprimanded by dozens of local lawyers in her own office in San Joaquin County, who stated that they “did not trust their boss, District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar, to effectively manage the prosecutions.”

Just two months later, she lost a re-election bid.

The National Pulse can also reveal that Verber Salazar, who described herself as a Republican when she introduced Harris in Douglas, Arizona, Friday afternoon, has been a Harris donor since 2016 and contributes to her Senate election fund. She also actively participated in the nationwide, often violent Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020. There is no evidence that she contributed to Republican candidates.

SOFT TOUCH SALAZAR.

First elected in 2014 and re-elected uncontested in 2018, Verber Salazar became synonymous with a soft approach to crime in Stockton, California.

Her own record of failure includes a plea deal with businessman Lyle Burgess, who sexually abused a 5-year-old child. Burgess pleaded no contest to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, but Salazar and her team easily let him off, with just 90 days in jail and five years of probation. Stunningly, the plea deal did not require Burgess to register as a sex offender.

Another example is that of Tyrone McAllister, who robbed and beat a man but took a plea deal with Salazar, serving only six months in prison. Two months after his release, McAllister was charged with shooting a man in Oakland, California.

Salazar’s soft approach is also believed to have been responsible for the murder of a child by his own father during the COVID-19 pandemic.

BRENNAN CENTER.

Associated with far-left national political organizations, Salazar is believed to have adopted the Soros-funded Brennan Center’s 21 Principles as “a blueprint for elected prosecutors seeking to move away from past incarceration-based approaches.”

The principles include seeking “diversion” (not incarceration) for serious crimes, supporting legislation to shorten sentence lengths, abolishing mandatory minimum sentences and more far-left criminal justice reforms.

In 2021, Stockton Police Association president Chuck Harris described Salazar as having “pro-criminal alliances,” adding, “A vote of no confidence is usually given by those who work directly for a specific individual in whom they have lost confidence. We leave that vote to those directly affected by the decisions and conduct of District Attorney Verber Salazar.

“However, based on District Attorney Verber Salazar’s recent pro-criminal alliances, SPOA has no confidence that District Attorney Verber Salazar will continue to have victim rights in mind.”

ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS.

Early 2024, Salazar and her now-evacuated office were the subject of a fraud investigation continues to this day.

“Today, District Attorney Ron Freitas alerted the California Department of Insurance and the Office of the California Attorney General to the findings of possible fraud uncovered in the handling of the Auto Insurance Fraud Grant Program dating back to 2017 under the previous District Attorney’s Administration,” reads a May 2024 statement.

That Harris and her campaign team would put Salazar at the forefront of their campaign with just 35 days left is likely indicative of their own approach to crime if Harris were to enter the Oval Office.
