Join the fight: stand together at Lancaster’s Freedom Walk to end human trafficking now!

LANCASTER, PA — On Saturday, Oct. 5, Musser Park in Lancaster will be the starting point for the Freedom Walk, an event hosted by Hope Inspire Love, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking. The walk aims to shine a light on the harrowing reality of human trafficking and sexual exploitation that affects communities across Pennsylvania, including Lancaster, Reading and Philadelphia.

Participants in the Freedom Walk will take part in a two-mile silent march through Lancaster City, holding signs to deliver the urgent message that human trafficking is a real and urgent problem. The event will also feature a ‘Trafficking Story’, an immersive experience that educates participants on the real-world consequences of human trafficking, in addition to information tents offering resources and support.

Heather Castellino, chief deputy attorney general of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Human Trafficking Division, will speak at the event and highlight the state’s efforts to combat this crime.

The walk will serve not only as a demonstration of solidarity, but also as a call to action for the community to recognize and combat human trafficking. In addition to Hope Inspire Love, other anti-trafficking organizations will be on hand to showcase their services and collaboration in this crucial fight.

Amy Thurston, founder, president and CEO of Hope Inspire Love, emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “Sex trafficking is happening right here in our own backyard, and this walk provides a tangible first step to making a difference in our society . community. Through our trauma-informed mentorship program, we give sex trafficking survivors the opportunity to thrive and thrive. We are doing this walk for the only victim, the only survivor. The work we do and the awareness during this walk is all about transforming lives and providing opportunities for prevention education and recovery services.”

The Freedom Walk starts at 10 a.m. in Musser Park, the walk starts at 10:45 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Anyone who wants to work against human trafficking is invited to participate.
