Job description

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is immediately seeking a highly motivated Cloud Software Engineer to join our growing team at our Hanover, MD location to lead the migration of the Minotaur software to an IL5 and IL6 cloud environment .

This feature supports a mission management tool called the Minotaur Mission Processor. Minotaur records data from various sensors on manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft to increase an operator’s ability to identify tracks from various onboard sensors, both sea-based and land-based, used in all branches of the military. Ideal candidates should have strong technical skills, a deep understanding of software development principles and extensive knowledge of cloud services.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Builds, designs, deploys, and refines cloud architectures and provides regulatory guidance on network and security. Leads early scoping definitions and identifies critical dependencies. Identifies and mitigates technology risks and develops architecture to support processes. Collaborates with functional business units to drive business solutions and direction. Develops and documents a framework for the integration and implementation of cloud systems. Understands and determines the sizing, capacity planning, and infrastructure, network, and security requirements in the cloud offering.

Minimum qualifications

• 5 years of relevant experience with Bachelors in a related field; 3 years of relevant experience with Masters in a related field; 0 years of experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.
• 5 years of experience as a Cloud Architect or role at a large cloud platform
• Experience developing applications using one or more programming languages ​​(i.e. Java, Python, C++ and/or similar languages)
• Previously worked extensively in a Linux environment
• Experience deploying highly scalable databases in a cloud environment, taking into account database consistency, availability and partition tolerance
• Experience working in a Kanban workflow
• Must be willing to obtain US-level classified clearance

Preferred Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience
• 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Architect or role at a large cloud platform
• Proficient with the RHEL operating system
• Experience with the various AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda and VPC or equivalent counterparts from other cloud providers
• Strong scripting skills with languages ​​such as Terraform and Ansible
• Have an active US level or higher classified clearance
