The raid was carried out on special instructions from PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid. The Punjab Police have registered an FIR against the dairy farm owner following the complaint filed by the competent authority.

The PFA DG said the authority closed the shop for violations and seized a motorcycle, mixing machine and drums during the raid. He said that based on the tip-off, PFA’s dairy safety team raided a unit and caught the adulteration mafia red-handed in producing manufactured milk.

He said that 700 liters of manufactured milk was produced using vegetable ghee, banned powder and other dangerous ingredients while it was to be supplied to local shops in different societies of Lahore in the name of milk. In addition, the milk was stored in the non-food-certified barrels.

The Director General further said that the raiding team also witnessed the abundance of insects, flies and mosquitoes along with the worst sanitary conditions. He said PFA had filed a case against the suspect for forgery and for violating the laws at the nearest police station.

The use of contaminated and adulterated milk is harmful to human health, he said. Asim Javaid said that the Punjab government will take strict action against counterfeiting mafia and offenders. He said PFA is working on international standards to improve the quality of milk. He requested the public to support the PFA in eliminating the counterfeiting mafia and in case of any complaints, report to the PFA on 1223 helpline number.
