SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been helping populations affected by armed conflict and natural disasters for more than 40 years, meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. SI’s interventions are particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, and provide expertise in access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, as well as in the vital area of food security and livelihoods. . The SI teams are present in 26 countries – a total of 3,200 people, consisting of expatriates, national staff, permanent headquarters staff and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and dedication, while respecting cultural norms.

ABOUT THE MISSION

Solidarités International operates through one mission in three countries, Syria, Turkiye and Iraq, with very diverse programmes. The mission has been managed by hub since 2024, with the Western Hub covering Northwest Syria (NWS) and Türkiye from Amman and the Eastern Hub covering Northeast Syria (NES) and Iraq. In total, the mission employs 350 staff, who implement a wide variety of programs, adapted to each context.

At NES, SI is one of the leading agencies in the WASH sector, responding to emergencies, protracted situations and recovery needs. The strategy is complemented by an important FSL component, which focuses on market recovery, business development and agriculture. SI is operational in Raqqa and Hasskeh governorates.

In NWS, SI is active in Idleb and Northern Aleppo with major WASH programs, with a focus on displaced persons camps, and rehabilitation programs, especially after the earthquake. SI also responds to emerging emergencies, including regular displacement, natural disasters and epidemics.

In Iraq, SI is working on recovery programs in Ninewa and the Kurdish Republic of Iraq, restoring the livelihoods of displaced populations through business development and mitigating the impacts of climate change and water scarcity.

In Türkiye, SI, together with a Turkish partner, began working with civil society organizations in earthquake-affected areas to rebuild their capacities after this natural disaster, with a particular focus on Hatay province.

ABOUT THE TRACK

General objective:

The Grants Coordinator is the focal point of the mission and ensures accountability to donors. In concrete terms, he/she is responsible for:

• Contribute to the strategic development of the mission.

• Monitoring and identifying financing opportunities in line with the SI country and global strategy.

• Lead the planning, development and consolidation of timely and high-quality proposals, reports and contract change requests for submission to donors and consortium partners.

• Monitor compliance with donor procedures throughout the grant cycle and build capacity of new and existing staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures.

• Proactively following up on donors’ contractual obligations.

• Managing the Reporting and Communication Officer/Grants Officer and Partnerships Manager

Issues and specific challenges:

  • Remote management of 3 Grants Managers
  • Lack of framework for partnership management
  • Hub structure requiring consolidation

Priorities for the first 2/3 months:

  • Support the proposal season, as technical support and coordinator for Grants Managers and ensure coordination between hubs, while being the point of contact for donors (ECHO, CDCS Iraq, CDCS Syria, perhaps CIAA, SDC, FPI)
  • Support the development of structured partnerships, with strong contractual management.
  • Contact new donors together with the CD to pursue the diversification of financing.

Security Restrictions

  • No safety problem in Amman. The situation in Erbil is relatively calm, but vigilance is required.
  • During deployments in NES or short-term crossings in NWS, strict adherence to security policies. Restricted movements outdoors.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Experience in proposal development, reporting and contract management
  • Experience with partner management
  • Excellent writing skills in English

TRANSVERSAL SKILLS

  • Experience working with ECHO, AFD and BHA would be a plus
  • Experience in both development and emergency situations is appreciated
  • Experience with remote management would also be a plus

LANGUAGES

  • English necessary
  • French would be an asset (AFD subsidies)

SI WILL OFFER YOU

A paid position:
According to experience, from € 2860 gross per month (2600 basic salary + 10% annual holiday allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 785.

SI also covers subsistence costs and travel costs between the expat’s country of origin and the place of posting.

Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and leisure is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a break allowance of USD 850, granted by Sl). For these breaks, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.

Insurance package: Expats benefit from an insurance package that covers all healthcare costs (including medical and surgical costs, dental and ophthalmological costs, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Costs for necessary vaccinations and antimalarial treatments will be reimbursed.

LIVING CONDITIONS:

Living conditions in Amman are very good with access to a wide range of restaurants and cafes. Most products (food, clothes…) are easily available in Amman.
20% of trips (Turkiye, Erbil, NES and sometimes Lebanon)
