Attorney George is charged with sex crimes, alleged victim 17 – LNN

A 33-year-old George lawyer appeared in the George Magistrate’s Court charged with sexual offenses in relation to a minor (17) after he was arrested on Monday.

According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, the suspect is charged with rape, sexual grooming, sexual exploitation, sexual assault and human trafficking for allegedly recruiting a child for sexual exploitation.

“These actions are said to have been carried out between June and September 2024,” says Spies.

The victim worked for the suspect at his company in the CBD, where she performed administrative tasks.

It is further alleged that he threatened her, saying that she had signed a contract stating that everything in the office was confidential and that if she told anyone what happened, she could go to jail.

He made his first court appearance on Tuesday and the matter was adjourned until Monday for his formal bail application. He remains in custody.

The victim recently reported the incident to her parents, after which a case was opened with the police. The case is being investigated by the George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit.
