Inzaghi wants to keep Inter focused amid ultra scandal

Simone Inzaghi could take cues from Jannik Sinner – a Max Allegri – in his efforts to keep Inter Milan focused amid a growing scandal surrounding their ultras.

This is today’s opinion in the print edition of the Turin newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

There has been an unwanted distraction for Inter in the past week.

The Nerazzurri ultra group, the Curva Nord, are under intense scrutiny, along with their AC Milan counterparts, the Curva Sud.

Anti-mafia prosecutors have arrested a total of nineteen members of the Nord and Sud.

These arrests have taken place alleged illegal activities as well as mafia ties of the ultras groups.

Inzaghi must take cues from Jannik Sinner to keep Inter focused

Of course, the activities of the ultras have nothing to do with Inter on the field.

However, that doesn’t mean the heightened controversy won’t affect the Nerazzurri mentally.

Distraction is always the enemy in football.

And the greater the distraction, the more it can affect the team’s form.

Therefore, Inzaghi’s task is clear. He must protect his players from the outside scandal and make it clear that it has nothing to do with them, their work and their goals.

According to Tuttosport, there are two men from whom Inzaghi could take signals.

The first would be former Juventus coach Max Allegri.

The Bianconeri were at the center of their own ultra scandal during the 2017/2018 season.

That put an unwanted spotlight on the Old Lady from an off-field standpoint.

But on the field it made little difference. Allegri guided Juventus to ruthless form to beat Napoli in an intense title race.

Then, Tuttosport suggests, Inzaghi can also look at the example of the Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner.

The 23-year-old has been at the center of a scandal of his own in recent months. In his case, allegations of doping.

But Sinner was able to shake this off. The Italian won the US Open this summer, perhaps the crowning glory of his career so far.

Inter will want to follow this example. And to do this, Inzaghi needs to figure out how to keep the team focused, just as Sinner has managed.
