HC: Investigate the nexus between the coal mafia and the police in Dhanbad

Ranchi: After I ordered the CBI to probe the relationship between police officers and the police coal mafia in the state earlier on Thursday, the Jharkhand High Court on Saturday issued a reserved judgment in the case and directed the Enforcement Directorate to also conduct a preliminary investigation into the matter.
In a 30-page order passed by Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi, the court held that there is “prima facie urgency to transfer the investigation of the case to the CBI as the Jharkhand Police is reluctant to register the FIR that the petitioner wants to submit. , Arup Chatterjee.
Chatterjee, a journalist, wanted to file an FIR to expose the rampant illegal mining, transportation and sale of coal in Dhanbad. After the FIR was not registered by the police, he knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court in the form of a criminal petition.
Justice Dwivedi, while deciding the case, also noted that the State government has opposed the petitioner’s allegation tooth and nail, which only indicates that there is truth in the petitioner’s allegations.
