Omar Abdullah rises in both places, Iltija Mufti admits defeat, Sajad Lone leads in Handwara

While the counting is currently underway, the trends shown on the Election Commission of India website at 11:30 am indicate that in Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir National Conference-Congress alliance together has crossed the halfway mark with a lead of 51 seats and can easily form a government.

According to Election Commission data, between 3 and 5 rounds of counting have been completed in most of the region’s 90 constituencies. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party was leading with 26 seats as of 11:30 am.

The voting results would decide the electoral fate of several former ministers, including Tara Chand, Muzaffar Baig, Raman Bhalla, Basharat Bukha, along with Omar Abdullah, Ravinder Raina, Yousuf Tarigami and several others.

Former JK CM Omar Abdullah said the alliance was at pole position and urged the BJP not to play dirty tricks.

“We are hopeful that we will win. We will get to know the decision of the voters of J&K today afternoon. There should be transparency… if the people’s mandate is against the BJP, they should not play tricks. …we have made an alliance so that we can win and we hope to win,” said Omar Abdullah.

In Jammu, Congress candidate from Bahu Assembly seat, TS Tony said the Congress-NC alliance was all set to form the government.

“The Congress-NC alliance will form the government with a two-thirds majority. Previously, people relied only on explanations. Now all the lies have been exposed… People now know everything. This was the city of temples. BJP made it the city of liquor city. They say it’s to generate revenue… People are frustrated with the liquor and land mafia… They are now being exposed. The public no longer trusts them… The BJP is killing democracy. The appointment of five MLAs had to be made by the elected government. Even the president does not have the power of direct appointment. How can the LG have this arbitrary power? he said.
