The Curva Sud are the most infamous AC Milan fans, their visibility is second to none and their presence in the stadium is always felt. However, there is currently a dark shadow hanging over them, and the shadow is getting darker and darker.

The investigation into the links between the Sud, the mafia and the Curva Nord – the Inter group – is currently ongoing, but there are arrests have already been madeand several members of both groups are excluded.

However, information continues to come to light, and from tomorrow prosecutors will ‘start interviewing some Milan and Inter members’. Simone Inzaghi and Nerazzurri vice-president Javier Zanetti will be involved in these hearings, as will the captain of the Rossoneri, Davide Calabriaaccording to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan).

If there was a time to lay still, it would be now, but this has not been the case, as the report states. Instead, the Digos found a “small arsenal” on a coach of Diavolo fans, including knives, clubs and rods. While no one has been charged so far, it wouldn’t be a surprise if people do arrive.

Given current investigations into criminality within the organisations, traveling with knives ‘shows how the power dynamics between fans are influenced by criminal interests’.
