On Saturday, CU will launch a marron tiramisu product developed by chef Napoli Matfia in the Netflix series “Culinary Class Wars.”

The product is called Marron & Tiramisu, referring to the original recipe made by the chef in the Netflix show, and will cost 4,900 won ($3.60). The tiramisu cup can be reserved from Tuesday to Thursday via the CU mobile app.

Chef Napoli Mafia, whose real name is Kwon Seong-joon, made the marron tiramisu during the eighth episode of Netflix Korea’s popular cooking survival show “Culinary Class Wars.” In this episode, the chefs created a ‘creative and tasty’ dish, using only ingredients they can find in a supermarket. During the show, a CU supermarket-inspired set was created for added immersion.

The chef used maroon cream bread and chestnuts, sold at the convenience store, to make the tiramisu. Sales of both items increased by 31.1 percent and 42.7 percent respectively the week the episode was released, compared to the week before.

CU worked with Chef Kwon to bring the product to market and plans to release more products in the future.

“You will be able to taste the sweet and savory flavor of fall chestnuts and deep cream cheese,” CU said in a news release Tuesday.

“The taste compares favorably with the desserts offered in hotels.”
