Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi appears for hearings in the ultra case

Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi was the first prominent club member to appear for the hearings in the infamous ultras case.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by CalciomercatoInzaghi testified early Wednesday afternoon before the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office, coordinated by Paolo Storari and Sara Ombra.

Simone Inzaghi is only the first Inter official to appear in court. The investigation into the involvement of various club fans in the mafia business is gaining momentum.

Police wiretaps intercepted a phone conversation between Inzaghi and Curva Nord leader Marco Ferdico ahead of the 2023 Champions League final.

It was an innocent conversation. Ferdico and the Nerazzurri head coach only discussed match tickets for the showpiece from Istanbul.

The former reportedly asked the 48-year-old coach to provide Inter fans with more seats in the stadium.

However, it showed a link between the ultras and high-profile club members.

Therefore, Inter Vice President Javier Zanetti is the next household name expected to appear in court.

In addition to Inter’s staff, several former and current players are also part of the police investigation.

Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Milan Skriniar will have to make a statement soon.

The same goes for Turkish playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu.

Meanwhile, Milan captain Davide Calabria could be the first Rossoneri player to be brought in for questioning.

Police carried out an extensive search of numerous homes in the San Siro area last week.

In addition to Ferdico, several other Inter and Milan fans are currently behind bars awaiting trial.

Many of them reportedly have close ties to the notorious mafia syndicate ‘Ndrangheta.

Given their intimate relationship with the senior members of both clubs, Inter and Milan cannot rest easy.

Both teams have already offered their ‘full’ cooperation with the investigation, in the hope of clearing their names.
