Man arrested for historic sexual assault

A 66-year-old man has been arrested for sexual abuse between 1996 and the present.

In February 2024, members of the DRPS Central West Criminal Investigations Branch began an investigation into historical sexual assaults involving a minor. The victim, now an adult, came forward to police to report a history of sexual assault that had occurred between the years 1996 and the present. Following the investigation, the man was arrested by the police on October 9, 2024.

A 66-year-old Oshawa man is charged with numerous crimes, including: Sexual violence x4 and Sexual exploitation.

He was held for a bail hearing.

To protect the victim’s identity, the suspect’s name is not being released. The police assume that this is an isolated incident.
