Mandatory evacuations underway due to fire near Newcastle

NEWCASTLE – Mandatory evacuations are in effect Friday evening due to a fire in the Newcastle area of ​​Placer County, deputies said.

The fire is burning near Lehi Lane and is spreading at a moderate rate, according to the Cal Fire Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit. The fire has burned about one to two acres.

Deputies said they are going door to door warning people on Lehi Lane and Autumn Wind Court to evacuate.
