Dining out in Rhode Island is always an adventure, whether we want to enjoy a delicious seafood platter while looking out over the Atlantic Ocean or sink our teeth into a classic New York system at our favorite restaurant. When we want to relax with a tasty meal and a cold beverage, we head to this firehouse-turned-restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island. It serves an assortment of classic dishes and features 33 flat-screen TVs, so we never miss the big game.

A drive down Douglas Avenue in Providence will inevitably take you past Ladder 133 Kitchen & Social, a popular restaurant that still retains the charm of its former life as a firehouse. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a delicious bite.

The former fire station was built in 1902 and housed the Union Hook and Ladder Company No. 3.

Reminders of the past adorn the former fire station, but the Providence restaurant’s masterpiece is undoubtedly the solid mahogany bar that dates back to the late 1800s.

The bar traveled 2,000 miles from a storage facility in Denver to its new home at Ladder 133 in Providence. If you look closely, you might even see one of the bullet holes the bar sustained during its time in San Francisco, Nevada or Arizona.


Your seating options aren’t limited to the bar or dining area. If you’re visiting during the warmer months, grab a seat at the outdoor bar or one of the tables.
Before you decide what to eat, browse the drinks menu which has a little bit of everything – bottled and draft beer, wine and cocktails. How about sharing a pitcher of margarita with the table?
The menu is full of flavorful and classic pub fare, so make sure you arrive good and hungry. Starting with an appetizer? Try the wings, onion ring tower, or a giant Bavarian pretzel.
Or how about a slider? All you have to do is decide if you want chicken parmesan, hot chicken or BBQ chicken.
All burgers are served with fries or salad, or you can sink your teeth into one of the tasty sandwiches with side dishes such as fried egg, pickles or onion rings.
