Deadline for online registration to vote in the August primary is July 22

LANSING, Mich. (WXYZ) — The deadline to register online or by mail to vote in Michigan’s August primary election is fast approaching.

The election will take place on August 6. Residents can register to vote online or by mail until July 22.

To qualify, you must be a resident of Michigan, a citizen of the United States, and 18 years of age on Election Day. You must also not currently be serving a prison sentence.

Registered voters with mail-in ballots are encouraged to send them in as soon as possible to avoid mail delays. Mail-in ballots can also be dropped off in person at the clerk’s office or a secure drop box no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Polls will also be open in Michigan from July 27 through August 4. On Election Day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

You can register online to vote on michigan.gov/voteby post or by scanning and emailing the completed application form to your local clerk before July 22.
