Ron Blackwell, age 64, passed away on July 10, 2024 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born on October 20, 1959 to James and Janelle Blackwell in Independence, Mo. Ron graduated from Springdale High School in 1978 and earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Arkansas in 1983. He took great pride in his career in the grocery industry, where he worked as a store manager and cashier for 40 years. Ron enjoyed genealogy and was able to trace his ancestors back hundreds of years. Because of his love for his family and his interest in its origins, he often had a new discovery to share about the Blackwell family tree. He read widely, including every book he could find on the Civil War. He was also widely read in literature, politics, history, and sports. He was a lifelong baseball fan and had an encyclopedic knowledge of MLB statistics. Above all, he was curious, funny, and kind. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his love of conversation and his ability to tell a wonderful story. Ron is survived by his wife, Toni Blackwell; brother, Roger Blackwell and fiancée Bonnie; stepson, Joshua Blackwell-Purdy; son, Matthew Blackwell and wife Elisa; and daughter, Brianna Blackwell. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron’s memory to the American Heart Association at American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, Texas 75284-0692 or https://www.heart.org/.
