Dover man arrested after resisting arrest, drug charges

DOVER, THE – Jesus Torres, a 34-year-old Dover resident, was arrested on multiple charges, including drug offenses and resisting arrest, following a foot chase near Seaford. The arrest, conducted by the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, occurred on July 16, 2024.

The incident began at approximately 3:47 p.m. when a detective observed Torres fail to use his turn signal while driving an Acura MDX on German Road from Concord Pond Road. Torres initially failed to stop when the detective attempted to pull him over, leading to a brief chase that ended at a dead end on Jewell Street.

When Torres stopped, he resisted arrest, refused to comply with verbal commands, and physically assaulted the detective, punching him multiple times. He briefly escaped on foot, but was soon apprehended by police. A subsequent search of the Acura yielded approximately 21.95 grams of powdered cocaine and $932 in cash, believed to be drug trafficking proceeds.

Torres was transferred to Troop 5, where he was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (Tier 3 felony), resisting arrest with violence or force (misdemeanor), disobeying a signal of a police officer (misdemeanor), abusive touching of a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to signal. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and booked into Sussex Correctional Institution on a $23,501 cash bail.

  • Man arrested after Glen Burnie dispute escalates to gun threat

    GLEN BURNIE, MD – An argument at a Glen Burnie residence escalated to violence on July 16, resulting in the arrest of a Linthicum man. Officers responded to a home on Eugenia Avenue around 4:25 p.m., where they found Joshua Richard Wader, 34, allegedly pointing a gun at several residents during the altercation.

    The suspect was subsequently found in his home in Linthicum and taken into custody without further incident.

    Officers also seized a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, which was identified as the weapon used in the attack. Wader now faces charges related to the attack and unlawful possession of a firearm.

  • Middle River man arrested for road rage incident

    MIDDENRIVER, MD – A Middle River man, Jason Catanzariti, 53, was arrested by Maryland State Police following a road rage incident on northbound I-95 at I-695. The incident occurred on Thursday and resulted in Catanzariti being charged with aggravated assault and other related offenses.

    The altercation involved Catanzariti allegedly pointing a gun at another motorist, who immediately reported the incident to police. The vehicle, described as a gray Subaru with Maryland plates, was soon spotted by authorities.

    Troopers found Catanzariti at his Middle River home at 8:30 p.m. and seized a loaded firearm believed to have been used during the altercation. He was arrested without incident and is now being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

    The Baltimore County District Attorney’s Office has charged Catanzariti with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He faces a mandatory minimum prison sentence of five years if convicted.

    The Maryland Department of State Police emphasized its commitment to improving traffic safety and reducing gun violence, urging motorists to drive safely.
