ATLANTA — Gov. Brian Kemp will lead a weeklong trade mission to Italy to strengthen existing economic ties with Italian companies and develop new partnerships, the governor’s office announced Friday.

Kemp, Georgia First Lady Marty Kemp and representatives from the state’s Department of Economic Development will meet next week with executives from companies that currently do business in Georgia, including gun manufacturer Beretta, tire maker Pirelli, TMC Transformers and textile manufacturer Aquafil.

“Georgia has had close economic and cultural ties with Italy for decades,” Kemp said. “Marty and I look forward to building on that foundation of success during this trip.”

Italy is one of Georgia’s 15 largest trading partners. Last year, a total of $3.4 billion in trade was traded between the peach state and Italy.

Italy also ranked among the top 10 international investors in Georgia in 2023, with Italian companies investing more than $411 million in state-sponsored projects since 2010. Some 90 Italian facilities in Georgia support around 5,000 jobs.

Kemp led a trade mission to South Korea last month. The last Georgian trade mission to Italy was in 2017 and was led by then-Governor Nathan Deal.
