US women’s basketball team to face Caitlin Clark, WNBA All-Stars for Olympics

Fans will get their first look at North Philly’s Kahleah Copper, Alyssa Thomas and the U.S. women’s national basketball team on Saturday as they begin their pre-tournament Olympic trials. The team features many of the WNBA’s biggest stars, including A’ja Wilson and Sabrina Ionescu — with a few notable exceptions.

The Olympic team, led by former La Salle star Cheryl Reeve, won’t include Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. They, along with the rest of this year’s WNBA All-Star team, will take on Team USA during the league’s All-Star weekend.

Team USA has not lost a game at the Olympics since 1992 and is seeking its eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal. With the WNBA ratings and attendance on the rise, the crowd for Team USA will almost certainly be high at this Olympics.
