Kansas weekend weather: storms, hail and gusts

Wichita, KS – Kansas residents should brace themselves for a wet start to the weekend as scattered showers and storms are in the forecast today. The National Weather Service in Wichita reported early this morning that the weather system will primarily impact areas along and west of the Kansas Turnpike. These storms are likely to bring gusty winds, pea-sized hail and heavy downpours.

According to the National Weather Service, the chance for scattered showers and storms will increase this morning, bringing significant amounts of rain to the region. Radar shows storm activity in areas such as Russell, Salina and Hutchinson, moving toward Wichita, Emporia and Topeka.

Today’s high is expected to reach 82°F with an 80% chance of rain. Sunday will see a slight improvement with partly cloudy skies and a high of 82°F. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be mostly sunny, with temperatures reaching 85°F and 86°F respectively. The weather will clear up considerably by midweek, with Wednesday and Thursday expected to be sunny and warm, with highs of 90°F and 91°F.
