Shooting in downtown Iowa City: 2 injured

Police ask for information from public, security cameras nearby

IOWA CITY — Two people were injured Saturday morning when shots were fired in downtown Iowa City.

Police were called to the 100 block of S. Dubuque Street, near the intersection with Burlington Street — just south of the Pedestrian Mall — at 12:56 a.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired, according to a news release from the Iowa City Police Department.

Officers found evidence of gunshots and two people with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

According to the press release, police have determined that the individuals involved in the shooting know each other and that there is no threat to the public.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department at (319) 356-5275. Additionally, anyone in the area with security cameras is asked to review the footage and contact police with any footage or information about the incident.
