Mamie Laverock thanks fans for support after tragic accident, family closes GoFundMe

On Wednesday, the Hallmark star’s family closed the GoFundMe fundraiser they organized for their daughter after she suffered a “medical emergency” in May. Laverock’s mother, Nicole Rockmann, and stepfather, Rob Compton, posted the news on the page and also shared a message that appeared to be written by the 20-year-old actress.

“Thank you so much. I don’t even know what to say. My heart is full,” the message read. “Thank you again. I have no words to describe my gratitude. I love you guys. Thank you. MAMIE.”

Below Laverock’s post, her parents announced they were discontinuing the GoFundMe. They thanked their fans for their love, support and donations.

“The Fund is now closed. Please know how much you have helped this family in our most difficult circumstances,” they wrote. “Thank you for your concern. Kind regards, Nicole and Rob.”

According to the online fundraising page, the GoFundMe has raised $39,022 CAD, surpassing its goal of $30,000.

Earlier this month, Laverock celebrated her 20th birthday, with her mother posting a photo of the two exchanging their first hug on the young star’s back. Facebook account.

“Mamie laid on her stomach, pushed herself up and held me… in that moment we realized we could hug each other for the first time,” Rockmann wrote, thanking her husband for “capturing” the beautiful moment.

Laverock also posted photos from her birthday party, including the balloon bouquets and When the heart calls-theme cake.

Laverock’s fall occurred on May 26, two weeks after she suffered a medical emergency and was first taken to the hospital. Her parents did not provide specific information about the emergency but hinted at its seriousness in a GoFundMe page that was set up for her, stating that Nicole managed to “arrive in time to save her life.”

At the time, she was taken to a Vancouver hospital, the parents said, where she was expected to remain “for a month or more.” They also said that “her recovery is unclear at this time, but she is alive and showing signs of improvement.”

This was all before the fall, which appeared on the GoFundMe page in the form of an update. The parents wrote that after two weeks of “extensive treatment,” their daughter “was escorted from a secure unit of the hospital and taken to a balcony where she fell five stories to her death.”

As a result of the fall, Laverock suffered “life-threatening injuries” and has undergone “several extensive surgeries,” according to the family.

Rockmann shared an update on May 30, telling the Los Angeles Times that Laverock had “opened her eyes” for the first time.

“Let’s hope this is the turning point and she can get through this now. I couldn’t be happier that people reached out to me and cared,” she said. “The story will be told.”

Rockmann said her daughter was still on life support, but no longer on a ventilator. While she did not provide details about Laverock’s injuries, she said her daughter’s body was “shattered” and she was in “tremendous pain.”

Rockmann said her daughter’s fall was not “intentional” and was not a suicide attempt. Laverock’s mother said she blames the hospital — St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver — for the accident, adding that the family plans to take legal action against the health care facility.

On June 26, exactly one month after Laverock’s tragic accident, an update shared on Facebook while her daughter recovered.

“Thank you for your healing messages for Mamie,” Rockmann wrote. “Mamie survived her injuries, but her road to recovery will be long.”

“I’ll be setting up a mailbox soon for all your cards and well wishes,” she added, before signing off with, “Thank you so much, Nicole.”

Laverock has been part of the Hallmark family for ten years, having first played Rosaleen Sullivan in the show’s first two seasons. She returned for season 10 in 2023, with her character now a nursing student.
