LSU baseball pitcher Cam Caminiti officially signs with Braves

One of LSU’s top players in baseball’s 2024 recruiting class will not be coming to Baton Rouge after being drafted in the first round of the 2024 MLB draft.

Cam Caminiti had an incredible year for Saguaro High School as a senior. He went 9-0 with a 0.93 ERA on the season, striking out 119 batters in 52 2/3 innings. He batted .493. He helped lead his high school to its first state championship in 13 years.

The 2021 World Series champion Atlanta Braves drafted him with the 24th pick in the first round of the draft. The slot value for his pick was $3,556,300, so he signed for his exact value and the Braves didn’t overpay or underpay to sign him.

Caminiti is just 17 years old and throws gas. His fastball tops out at 97 mph and he has a killer breaking ball. He is now being sent to rookie ball in the Braves farm system as he begins his journey to the majors.
