A 14-year run comes to an end with the latest instalment of the Atlanta Open. The ATP 250 tournament will once again kick off the American summer hardcourt swing next week.

Although the event is a direct rival to the Paris Olympics (tennis starts next weekend), it should be a grand finale in Atlanta with a strong field of 28 players. The headliner is Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Denis Shapovalov. No. 2 Adrian Mannarino, No. 4 Jordan Thompson and No. 5 Miomir Kecmanovic also bring their talents to Atlanta.

The top half of the bracket is particularly strong, with Shelton, Davidovich Fokina, Shapovalov, Thompson and Borna Coric. Exciting first-round clashes include Davidovich Fokina vs. Arthur Cazaux, Shapovalov vs. David Goffin and Coric vs. Thanasi Kokkinakis. Shelton vs. Shapovalov is a potential quarterfinal and would be a rematch of the recent Wimbledon third-round match, which the American won in five sets.

On the other side of the draw is Tiafoe, who received a much-needed boost by pushing eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz to five sets at the All-England Club. Tiafoe could open with Aslan Karatsev in the second round before potentially facing Brandon Nakashima in the quarterfinals. As for a struggling Mannarino, he’ll likely start his week against 2023 Atlanta runner-up Aleksandar Vukic.
