Opportunity Center Hosts Jubilee Craft and Vendor Fair This Week

The Opportunity Center is hosting a 2-day Jubilee Craft and Vendor Fair this week featuring new, never-used, high-quality seasonal decorations. Funds raised will support the center’s mission to help people with disabilities.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the center, located at 3560 New Hartford Road.

This is the first year the event is being held and Communications Manager Chelsey Robison said they received several boxes of seasonal decorations as in-kind donations.

“Our leadership team came together and came up with the idea of having a sale that our participants could host,” Robison said. “We’re always looking for ways to engage the people we serve in real-world work experiences and bring the community into our facility to learn more about our mission. We’re so grateful for the donation of these items so we can host events like this.”

Robison said they are also open to having craft vendors from the community join them for the sale. Their goal is to have at least 10 vendors so they can sell their products and learn more about the Opportunity Center and its mission.

The nonprofit’s ultimate goal with the event is to create hands-on work experiences for its participants and raise awareness for its mission and individuals with disabilities. They plan to use the funds raised to host a party for their participants.

She added that Jubilee Craft and Vendor aligns closely with their mission of providing training, advocacy and support to people with disabilities.

“We need community support to make that happen,” Robison said. “The more foot traffic we get through the door, the more people will learn about our mission and the opportunities for people with disabilities.”
