Top 10 Most Important Wins in the Mike Norvell Era

It’s crazy to think that Mike Norvell’s coaching record at FSU football is nearly identical to his tenure at Memphis after four seasons, considering he started in Tallahassee. Norvell finished his time at Memphis with a 38-15 overall record and 24-8 in the AAC, including a 12-1, 8-0 mark in his fourth and final season. His time at FSU was the opposite during the pandemic-affected 2020 season. Norvell went 3-6 his first season and started his sophomore season 0-4 before finishing 5-3 in his final eight games.

Those games gave FSU football fans optimism heading into the 2022 season, with expectations of reaching a bowl game and winning at least 7-8 games. FSU exceeded those expectations, but it didn’t come without its share of setbacks. In hindsight, I look back on some of the games and realize that they easily could have gone differently, and if they had, Mike Norvell might not have gotten the chance to enjoy the fruits of his labor. Needless to say, FSU won those games and has risen to where they have been for most of our lifetimes, among the top teams in college football. While I expect many more wins in the Mike Norvell era, here are my top 10 most important ones thus far.
