Prince Harry stands firm and refuses to compromise on security

Earlier this year, Prince Harry returned to the UK and reportedly contacted his father, King Charles, to request a meeting during his visit as a gesture of reconciliation.

Harry attended a special service at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, a sporting competition for ex-servicemen that he founded in 2014.

Reports suggested that the Duke had contacted his father to arrange a meeting while he was in the country. Their last meeting was shortly after Charles’ cancer diagnosis, limiting their time together in London to less than an hour before Harry returned to Sandringham.

Sources stated that when Harry asked Charles for a meeting for the Invictus Games service, Charles responded with the direct assurance that he would come “if he could.”

According to a source, Harry is in regular contact with his father and has openly expressed his desire to see him as often as possible.

During his three-day stay in the UK for the service, Harry was unable to meet his father or other members of the royal family, citing Charles’ busy schedule.

However, insiders revealed that Charles had agreed to Harry’s request to stay at a royal residence, knowing that Harry no longer has an official home in the UK. This accommodation arrangement could have allowed for a meeting between them outside of their busy schedules.

However, according to the Telegraph, Harry turned down the offer because it involved no security and would involve staying in a “visible location with public entrances and exits and no police presence.”

Instead, as on all his recent visits, Harry is said to have opted to stay in a hotel so he could “come and go unnoticed”.

It is not known which residence Harry was offered, but St James’ Palace is certainly a strong possibility. It is home to Princess Beatrice, and Princess Anne also has rooms there.

What’s more, it’s right next to Clarence House, where the King stays when he’s in London, meaning father and son can meet in complete privacy, while armed guards keep watch over the property.

All royal residences have armed guards at the entrances and exits and the most advanced security systems in the country. But Harry’s biggest concern is the level of security he gets outside.
