MoDOT asks for public input on list of unfunded needs

The Missouri Department of Transportation is asking the public for input in determining unfunded transportation priorities.

Meetings are being held throughout the state, but the Central Region meeting is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. on July 30 in the Muri Room of the Central District office, 1511 Missouri Blvd. in Jefferson City.

MoDOT and regional planning partners have developed a draft high-priority list of unfunded needs. This list identifies $1.1 billion in annual unfunded transportation needs. The list directs development needs to funded projects as state and federal funding becomes available. MoDOT is seeking public input on the list.

The draft list has $4.4 billion in needs for roads and bridges in three tiers. Tier one is $477 million and includes needs that can be met in the current five-year Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. Tier two is $1.92 billion and includes needs that extend beyond the current STIP time frame with broad estimates. MoDOT has also worked with planning partners to identify $1 billion in multimodal needs (e.g., pedestrian, rail, river, air).

MoDOT is accepting comments on the concept document through Aug. 23. An online comment form is available through the unfunded needs webpage. More information is available by calling MoDOT’s customer service line at 1-888-275-6636.
