Missing Little Rock man’s truck discovered in Newton County

NEWTON COUNTY, Ark. — A missing Little Rock man’s truck has been discovered by a Newton County police officer.

According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, a truck owned by 41-year-old Clyde Holmes, also known as Clyde Boatwright, Jr. of Little Rock, was discovered on July 11 along Highway 74 between Jasper and Piercetown.

According to investigators, Holmes was last seen in Little Rock on July 10.

A Newton County trooper discovered the abandoned truck, locked and pulled over to the side of the road, around 5 a.m. and checked the area for its owner. The truck was then towed and entered into a nationwide law enforcement computer network as impounded.

On July 19, Little Rock police contacted Newton County deputies about the truck. Deputies obtained a search warrant and searched the truck, but found no new information. Investigators said Holmes has no known ties to Newton County.

Newton County authorities worked with the Little Rock Police Department, with officers conducting a ground search with K-9 teams.

“I’ve met with Clyde’s family and they are rightfully concerned about him,” Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said. “Our prayers go out to him and his family. We don’t have a lot of information to go on right now, but we’re hoping that as the investigation and search continues, we’ll have more information to work with.”

Investigators describe Holmes as 5’10” tall with black dreadlocks. It’s unclear what clothing he was wearing before he was last seen.

Sheriff Wheeler is asking Newton County residents to contact his office at (870) 446-5124 if they have seen Mr. Holmes anywhere in Newton County since July 10th.

Anyone with possible information regarding the investigation should contact detectives with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office or the Little Rock Police Department at (501) 404-3016.
